Mounting TVs above fire places is not always recommended. If you do decide to go that route, keep these items of concern in mind:
- Fire places get hot when used. This heat can cause degradation in your TV such as warping.
- Mounting above a fire place puts the TV at a high height that may be uncomfortable to view for long periods of time
- It is more expensive to install above a fire place due to specialty equipment and maneuvering. Also, some fire places will require a specialized mount made from 2×4/2×6 depending on the surface the TV is being mounted to
